Kiser Elementary Wins National Award

Levin Porter Associates was recognized for "Outstanding Architecture and Design in Education" for the Kiser PK-8 Elementary School in Dayton. Kiser was awarded a "Project of Distinction" designation and appeared in the June 2008 issue of School Planning & Management's Education Design Showcase.

In the announcement, School Planning & Management stated, "Good designs don't just happen. They are created due to the hard work of the district, the architect and the community. Each project may be unique, yet they all share one common goal: to provide the best possible learning environment for all students at all levels of education. Your project, Kiser PK-8 Elementary School, has achieved this goal."

Franklin Named Newest LPA Associate

LEVIN PORTER ASSOCIATES INC has announced that Matthew T. Franklin AIA, LEED AP, of Kettering, has been named an Associate of the Firm.  The announcement was made recently by Thomas B. Thickel AIA, the firm’s President.

Franklin, who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Masters of Architecture degrees from Miami University, joined the firm in 2002.  He is currently serving as a Project Architect on several of the firm’s major educational facilities including recent projects for Centerville City Schools and Central State University. Recognized as a LEED Accredited Professional, he is also leading the firm’s LEED “Silver Certification” efforts on two current Dayton Public Schools projects.  Franklin is an active member of the Dayton Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, a participant in the recent AIA 150 Initiative in Dayton’s South Park Neighborhood, and currently serves as a member of the Kettering Arts Council.

“The advancement to Associate recognizes Matt’s leadership and contributions to the firm, the profession, and the Community.” says Thickel.

Thickel Selected as Miami Valley Creative Catalyst

LPA President, Tom Thickel AIA, has been selected as one of 32 community leaders to serve as a catalyst to help kick start an effort to grow a "creative class" in the Miami Valley. The movement is being sponsored by the Creative Region Initiative and will focus on attracting and retaining more "creative class" workers to spur our regional economy.
