CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND NATURAL SCIENCES
Central State University
Wilberforce, Ohio

DESCRIPTION:
Levin Porter Associates was selected to program and design a new Academic center to house a new College of Education facility and a relocated Department of Natural Sciences, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. The project will be the first project completed as part of the new University’s Campus-Wide Master Plan.

The project is being accomplished in two phases. The Phase I work will include a 74,000 sq. ft. facility for the College of Education, Lecture Hall, and education lab/classrooms. Phase I also includes an Early Childhood Center, Science and Music Education Classrooms/Labs. A new center for the Institute of Urban Education is provided on the second floor.

The completion of Phase I will set the stage for the four-story Phase II to house the Department of Natural Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics Labs, Research Labs, Greenhouse, Plant Labs, and support spaces. Departmental offices complete the program for Phase II.

Prior to construction, the demolition of vacated dormitory buildings was required to clear the site.

The building will require rerouting and tie-in to the existing utility tunnels within the area of the new building.
